Life is a gift, and to deeply receive it is to see that it's like The Matrix. We are all Neo, and Smith is the negative ego — the angry and scared part inside that's seeking to control and sabotage, to defeat us from within and make us believe our self-imposed limitations.
For Neo, working with the machines (our creations - acknowledge the high side and the low) to beat Smith and create peace is the equivalent of becoming a spiritual adult and taking 100% responsibility for everything in one’s experience of reality, (even if sometimes it’s just responding emotionally inside, sending out our best intention, and choosing to trust). That’s how we cut through our projection fields and receive the best in others to create win-wins.
The trilogy ends with the beginning of enlightenment (understanding - seeing reality clearly). The first movie ends with Neo's awakening - recognizing that he's not the negative ego keeping him small, and choosing to take more responsibility for his life and ultimately his whole world.
"Observation isn't neutral. Each moment is a prayer."
Each observer is already creating or allowing 100% of their experience, consciously or unconsciously. The two are not separate. Here we are overlapping in this moment. Namaste. As individuals, we can become more proficient, masterful, and even artistic at responding to it, and getting feedback on each choice.
For a spiritual adult, responsibility is not a burden it is to a teenager — it is simply the ability to respond, internally and externally. Power is the willingness and ability to respond to the situation at hand. Success is when you make a choice inside and see it reflected, either internally or externally.
To get with the experience of oneness is to not only realize that the observer and the observed are one, but to learn that the inherent power in each observer is greater than any illusion in samsara, in the Matrix, in the present moment before it flickers away and joins the infinite past. Physical reality is pliable and can be changed from the inside because of the inherent uncertainty of the future. This is the practical side of oneness.
From this point, the name of the game becomes conscious reality creation, co-creation, & a dance with/as the mysteries that lie beyond. It is the highest tantra - to change the internal reality so that is reflected in the external reality, and to metaphorically-emotionally interpret the external so that it can be processed/loved internally and then show up differently in samsara.
When “I” break a pattern inside, I can expect to see the feedback “outside.” Receiving is a fusion of willingness and willfulness, and receiving more than you expect is a miracle. Beyond the duality of internal and external there is the natural creative intelligence of reality itself.
In The Matrix, Neo is taking 100% responsibility for the future of humanity, and is not willing to let any ideological limitation stop him from getting there. He is joined by a cast of heroes who also take 100% responsibility, in their own way, for their own reality.
Responsibility isn’t a burden to an awakened adult - it’s just the ability to respond, internally and/or externally. So if each of us take 100% responsibility, realizing that to hurt the “other” is to hurt oneself, then we are living the meaning of terms like Namaste and Ubuntu. It is through our love - unconditional and conditional, gentle and fierce - that this world will grow toward peace.
Looking at the chaos and confusion and pain in the world, I can only take that as a part of my own unconscious, subconscious (and sometimes even conscious) mind that needs to change in order to move into the future of our dreams. A collective shadow purge & the end of the old paradigm of domination, creating a space for a more loving future. The qualities of being there are the steps to getting there.
I read an article called, "What Would Happen If Everyone Truly Believed Everything Is One?" If you ask me, it's not really about "everyone else needs to get it," it's more about "me" — this observer — getting it deeper inside and having it reflected back in physical reality. Observation isn't neutral. Each moment is a prayer.
Q: How do we help others?
Ramana Maharshi: There are no others.
I sense that traditions like Dzogchen, Taoism, and Alchemy emerged before we had language - it's the primordial awareness on how to work with the "machine" of nature and physical reality. In today's world, we've gone beyond that "magical child" phase and it's time to claim the full power of the rational mind - integrated through our emotions and through our insticts. The European enlightenment and its emphasis on logic and reason symbolizes humanity's adolescence - looking for external validation, defining a separate self, trying to imitate/emulate/control.
This moment, this time in history, is calling for us to create a new synthesis and define spiritual adulthood for ourselves. Wishing for those "simpler times" is a form of bypass - there's no turning back
Tesla says to understand resonance, frequency, and vibration, and the power of 3, 6, 9. Explore the deeper mysteries of life by living the great questions. What is a meaningful life? What does it feel like to cultivate the art of love?
Einstein says "the distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion." We are navigating the infinite and creating our experience through the filters of our thoughts and feelings, decisions and choices, and beliefs and attitudes. A real-life "red pill" is to explore what is possible by fully leveraging the power of both willfulness and willingness — learning to dance with reality, in between intention and surrender.
The Matrix speaks through metaphor because it’s a fractal. One can change the whole shebang because it’s a hologram. We are sparks of one consciousness, dreaming our subjective experience of reality. The paradox is that each observer creates 100% and can simultaneously impact the other — so please, help us choose wisely and imagine peace.
Wisdom is to see the big picture without losing track of the situation at hand, to look for win-wins and hold emotional integrity, and to go beyond logic and reason while still keeping a tether. To keep a space open for the divine (innate) intelligence to unfurl itself spontaneously and surrender to each moment. To know the high side of control, and know that it comes at the cost of (conditional) love, creativity, and freedom. The high side of anger is to slow reality down enough to find clarity and speak it — the low side is when it's used to punish the "other." When that power is disowned, it becomes depression. If I had to distill this philosophy to one word it would be "from" - where are you coming from in each moment? Where do you feel inspired to go? Chase that feeling of inspiration, not the form but the underlying function & emotional excitement.
The high side of the corona virus (SARS 2) is that it’s an alarm bell within the Matrix like I've never seen, that can push us to claim that innate power and go for our dreams.
If reality is more pliable than our senses might suggest, best case scenario, where do you want the world to be tomorrow? One month from now? One year? 5 years? What can you imagine? What does it feel like? What is it like to dream with your heart in this way?
Live from fun, success, love, and the values that make you feel excited to be alive. The old paradigm is built on domination and chauvanism. The new paradigm is built on internal emotional dominion (the wisdom of choosing to heal oneself), recognizing physical reality for the (funhouse) mirror that it is, living from one's authentically-inspired values, and dancing with the mystery of life.
Thanks to all of you dear friends and teachers, you wild spirits and wise souls who make this life worth living and mean the world to me. Please help me keep reaching beyond my shadows and shortcomings and forgive me for the times I've let you down. We are all human. Our gift is to make ourselves better, together.
Gratitude for what you want more of, forgiveness for what you want less of, and the courage to be vulnerably honest.
